The Saint John River in New Brunswick has a daily battle with the Atlantic Ocean (via the Bay of Fundy) and what you see here is part of that battle. The rapids you see in front of the mill are not due to rocks. They are the result of the heavier salt water fighting with the fresh water of the river and resulting in massive turbulence and whirlpools. You can experience this up close and personal with a Jet Boat ride where you have an insane driver racing about trying to get you soaked. We were in the front seats during a previous ride and we were completely soaked from head to toe! These boats have 420HP and if you are ever in the Saint John area, be sure to check it out. It's a blast!
i can almost smell the mills. my grand parents lived there many years and every time we visited them i smelled the irvings and their poison factory.
but thanks for the memory. i loved visiting my grandparents anyway.
