CHI 2011 Madness Video for the talk: Gestural Interaction on the Steering Wheel - Reducing the Visual Demand (May 9th 2011).
Shows a multi-touch enabled steering wheel used in a driving simulation to control a music player with gestures while driving. In our research, we developed a user-defined steering wheel gesture set and applied the identified gestures as well as compared their application to conventional user interaction with infotainment systems in terms of driver distraction.
The research was conducted by the University of Duisburg-Essen (Germany), the University of Warwick (UK) and the German Research Center for Artificial Intelligence (Germany).
