Asia is home to most of the world's poor, and more than half of its cell phones. How are tens of millions of Asians from low income backgrounds connecting to each other and to the information society?
Capturing highlights of a 2006 survey conducted by LIRNEasia with funding from IDRC (http://www.idrc.ca), this film shows the many ways those at the bottom of the socio-economic pyramid in India, Pakistan, the Philippines, Sri Lanka, and Thailand are using mobile phones to improve their relationships, increase their incomes, and transform how they live.
This video was produced by TVE Asia Pacific (http://www.tveap.org/) for IDRC research partner LirneAsia (http://lirneasia.net/), an information and communication technology (ICT) policy and regulation think tank active across Asia Pacific.
