for filming that kind of shot the 7D is like bringing a tampon to a gun fight, it's not quite the best tool to fight with...
ex cameras are meant for wide shots that look super crisp while a DSLR is meant for dicking around with bokeh and being "artsy"
Given the extra controls and features the EX has, I would pick it up in a heartbeat over some DSLR camera for shooting video that's even remotely professional.
I think if your a true pro you would defenitly use the Sony. Not only because it looks pro, but alos becuase people recognize sony as a quality stuff. That being said, Canon is making images really close to those higher end Sony Cameras. I like both. I would like to have both as well.

Once again, this comparison proves that DSLR's have very inaccurate natural colour reproduction.
As the gain increased on the 5D, the colours became way too over exposed and over saturated, whereas the EX1 maintained the naturalness in the colour.
No contest the EX1 wins hands down unless you want a cartoonie look.

@RTardEntertainment Hope you have decided but I went for 7D because I am hoping Canon will bring out 5D m3 out soon and then I will get the 5D.

I would have thought the EX would be less noisy
Guess I'm wrong.

Depends on what you'll be doing.
I'd jump for the 5d if you're not worried about 60p or External monitoring.

@RTardEntertainment , I would get the 550d/T2i if I were you, the video is exactly the same, they are both 18megapixel but the 550d/T2i is only $800
