These are just mediocre junk, -really- cheap ceramic pickup and flimsy turntable construction.Think for minute..the output of this device is what you will have to remember your records. A decent used turntable with magnetic pickup can be had for less than $40, add a preamp or if you have a receiver with "phono" input -you don't need a preamp, just a $5 cord to connect it to the "line" input on your PC..FAR superior, and will cost less. If you need USB input get an adapter $15-25. Audacy is free

too bad it doesn't come with a slipmat. It comes with a grip mat.Slipmats and Gripmats are two totally different things.

Okay, I have this unit and it converts great, but the problem is that it also records all stray sounds in the room - like the phone ringing, and cat meowing.

Is there a setting somewhere I can change so it only grabs the digital input?

I heard Ion made bad turntables. I'm listening to one right now, and if that sounds bad, I want to hear what good sounds like. And yes, you can use this for casual listening and not just conversion.

Tripe, what I do now, is I go into audacity and I go into "Tracks" then change it to mono where it says "stereo track to mono" and then for some strange reason it balances the output between the left and right channel. Try that out and let me know how it works for you. Sounds great on my end.

If its USB does that mean you can put it in the computer and play music on the computer? I don't have any records or anything was wanting to scratch some pc music.

Ion uses the same cheap-o cartridge that most of the other priced-to-sell phonographs, like Crosley. You are better off spending the extra bucks and buying a brand name professional turntable made by, Technics, Audio Technica, Stanton, etc., and install a decent cartridge.

thats really strange

but i found that it gets the best sound from the Audacity software, unfortunately its not as simple as the ez converter, but it still does the job.

hey there! It's funny you brought it up now, as I haven't used it up until last week since then. I'm getting sound now but the new problem is it's uneven. Once I transfer the vinyl to itunes and play the music, I'm getting where the balance is off, meaning when you hear it on my speakers, you hear it from the left speaker and very very low sound from the right speaker. My speakers are fine, it's only the tracks that are transferred from vinyl when using the turntables of course.
