Fender's PASSPORT series of integrated portable PA systems are an excellent value, with very good performance. The PD subseries, with the speakers allegedly designed by Bose, are even better. However, many users will experience problems with the jacks on the speakers, as they use a very cheap connector that has weak spring force, allowing the speaker cable plugs to come out much too easily.

This video is a compilation of still photos I took during a repair to a set of PD-250 speakers, with the goal of replacing the cheap jacks with professional quality ones. Other speaker models within the Passport series probably be serviced in a similar manner.

The photos illustrate the steps to remove the grill, remove the front panel, access the speaker drivers, replace the jacks, and reassemble everything while keeping the gasket in place. I also include one image showing the electrical schematic of the speaker. I recommend the Switchcraft model 11 jack, since its quality is high, it has a long standing reputation of use on quality audio equipment, and its availability is excellent; it also fits the speaker cabinet's hole and available space perfectly.

Some users have reported that they cannot figure out how to remove the grill, so at least this part should be of use.
