brothers of mine,
i tend to agree. not as exciting as watching Frank directing, making faces, etc. Flo and Eddie were like comedians, in a sense
I saw ZPZ live. They are kinda rote performers. Kinda standing around, listlessly....Napolean brought some energy, but I think this is due to Dwezil's lack of stage presence

The melody starts in E lydian and moves up while the low end hits start on A# aeolian and move up. It's all based in B major. The last triplet creates a strong feeling of resolution to B major, and as it speeds up (while still continuing to fake-out the resolution by going back to the beginning of the pattern) in order to add to the tension - until finally Zappa pulls a fast one on us and shifts to an A minor blues rock groove.

THANK YOU! So I should learn E Lydian for the lick, and if I were to play against an A# bassline, I'd be able to sound it out?
I should probably learn B Major too.

Well, really it's just an ascending pattern with chords using tones from the E lydian scale. The first goes G# E B, which is an E major triad. It just falls into place after that. If you want to be able to play it fluently then just practice playing thirds ascending in a B Major scale.

I did learn the E Lydian scale which was interesting. Major thirds, right?
