@potrobsas You're right. Kim Novak exudes mystery...not to mention intelligence. In the 50s she seemed to me to be far less of a sexpot than Marilyn Monroe but not quite as Patrician as Grace Kelly. She was strong and independent.

I like her a lot but you are really exagerrating. Kim was only in major films for a few short years very early on in her career during the late fifties. then in the 60s, 70s and 80s her career was pretty much in the toilet except for when she did this show. When she quit in 1991, she was not a top star like Julia Roberts.

Ms Novak is the last of the great stars of the Golden era....beautiful, a fashion style setter, who quit while she was ahead in the game, .... no interviews on cheap talk shows recounting the "the old starry days". Novak just walked away. Smart and Beautiful lady. To the poster who said "Kim was one of the worst actresses etc." Walter Matthau no less said no one taught him more about acting than Miss Kim Novak. Novak also had fans among Billy Wilder, Jack Lemmon, Dean Martin, Siobhan McKenna

Kim Novak is the ultimate mystery
-
You forgot...she was also one of the worst actresses in the history of film.

The name of Kim's "Falcon Crest" character, Kit Marlowe, is a Hollywood in-joke. As a young contract player at Columbia Pictures, Kim (born Marilyn Pauline Novak) was told by studio boss Harry Cohn that he wanted to change her name to Kit Marlowe, saying, "Nobody's going to go see a girl with a Polack name." They eventually compromised on keeping her real last name and changing her first name to Kim. Incidentally, Ms. Novak's ancestry is Czech, not Polish.
