This is a short clip of the riders motor pacing along the Schelde (canal) which runs from Oudenarrde to Gent and back on a bike path.
Motor pacing is a training activity where the riders simulate a high paced racing situation with a motorbike (where the camera is situated) setting the pace and providing a "sit" or wheel to draft from. The riders share the benefit of sitting first wheel by rotating as seen in the video. Most of this session would be held above 50kmh and the speed would be progressively increased nearer to the end of the route.
We would typically hold this session 2-3 days prior to a race and normally at the conclusion of the riders daily training.
Nice guys, I also ride a lot next to the Schelde.
Do you stay in Oudenaarde for the Belgian season?
