This video was originally uploaded on October 24th , but, not surprisingly, it immediately fell foul of Youtube's content ID matching system and we soon received an e-mail to that effect. The e-mail and Youtubes help page were somewhat vague as to the consequences, so, fearing the worst, we removed the video.

Having researched the subject it seems that the copyright owner (in this case Universal Music Group) has an option to have the audio track removed or to allow the video to stand, provided advertising is placed alongside it.
As this is what happened the first time round we have re-uploaded the video. If conditions change, we may remove it again.

The original caption read:

To coincide with the clocks going back and the evenings becoming darker we have put together this video of night time steam. Some of the clips have appeared in earlier works but much of it is new, consisting of recordings made prior to our joining Youtube, evening outings too short to make a proper video, outtakes and general clips picked up from the floor of the digital cutting room.
Eighteen different locos feature in a wide range of locations, although a number of our favourite, well-lit and deserted, stations appear several times.
The shots at the beginning are of the sun setting over Dartmoor and the moon sequence at the end was achieved by fitting a 600mm lens onto the camera and filming out of the living room window, then speeding the video up by about 1500%

  • what is the backing track??

  • @woodymustang32 Bring On The Night By The Police.

  • the shot at 1:32 , isnt on youtube is it?

i cant find the loco in your videos

  • No, 45231 doesn't feature in any of my videos as it'd moved north before i joined youtube. I tried to compile this film using as much unseen footage as possible and the black 5 featured heavily in the preceeding years.

  • One question, where is the shot at 0:25 taken please?

  • At 0:25 Oliver Cromwell is seen pulling away from Theale loop near Reading.
