I have a series called the "WWF Invasion" from 1993. However, it actually started in August of 1992 with Jimmy Hart vs Jerry Lawler. Some lowercard WWF guys came in like Sgt. Slaughter, Hacksaw Duggan and the Bushwackers. They were babyfaces vs guys like Eddie Gilbert and the Moondogs. In this chapter, we see a interview from Lawler and Jarrett about being the number 3 team in the PWI at the time and about the WWF and it's fans. After that is a insert interview with Jimmy Hart.

  • Soooo......how long did it take for Jerry Lawler to start as a commentator in WWF

  • @eltornado1978 About 4- 5 months.

  • @dynamo805 exactly...lawler is such a master of the promos i rank him easily in the top 5...he's so good at explaining anything that may seem illogical to the fans from why he's teaming with Austin Idol after the wars they had to this wwf invasion and why its so important to the USWA..I consider Lawler and Dusty Rhodes the experts of "putting asses in the seats"

  • @eltornado1978 Less than that even. He started right after Bret won the World title for the first time. Which was in late October/early November

  • WTF?? Lawler and Jarrett tag team champions??!!

  • Jeff Jarrett always used to look at the floor during promos when the other guy was talking.

  • Jimmy-never say never ,BABY!! sound like bieber and he was not even born yet ,weird????

  • This is a great promo by Jimmy. Amazing what these guys could do when cut loose from the very confining WWF cartoon style of the time. The pre-internet days were amazing, as this basically-NWO invasion was happening during what was still the Hogan era. But if you weren't in Memphis you would never have known this happened. I used to think wrestling was always like WWF: childish, ignorant of other promotions, but there were a lot of great mature angles like this going on the whole time.

  • Wow though, seeing Jimmy Hart doing a promo here. I stopped associating Jimmy with WWF at this point since he left with Hogan for WCW. But I guess this angle started earlier than I remembered. Nice seeing Jimmy getting back involved with Memphis.

  • I missed the whole USWA/WWF invasion angle (though I was around for the USWA/SMW cross promotion) but did remember seeing WWF wrestlers showing up in the USWA rankings (and I think even in SMWs). Randy Savage ended up USWA champ for a bit I think.

  • I never knew about this when was this ?

  • This is when i watched wrestling i watched wrestling from when i was 1 in 1988 all the way to wm19 2003 what years did you guys watch wrestling from?

  • why is jimmy shootin on Buddy like that ... lol

  • I was at that card at the Pyramid and true to his word JJ went down there and challenged Brett Hart.

  • wow i was 1 at this time

  • Wow, talk about shooting.

  • Probably the best promo Jimmy Hart had given since he left Memphis... and he probably hasn't given one this good since!!

  • This is why Lawler ranks up there as one of the best interviews of all time. The way he has such cohesion in the story line, the passion he has delivering his lines, makes me want to take pride in being a small-time, $20 payoff wrestling company

  • Shame this is a storyline. I'd loved to seen USWA to put wwe out of biz.
