Accused of cheating and desperate to prove his innocence, an eighteen-year-old orphan from the slums of Mumbai reflects back on his tumultuous life while competing to win 20 million rupees on India's Who Wants to Be a Millionaire in Danny Boyle's inspirational drama. Jamal Malik (Dev Patel) may not have a penny to his name, but that could all change in a matter of hours. He's one question away from taking the top prize on India's most popular television game show, but as with everything else in Jamal's life, it isn't going to be easy.

  • I saw this film a week ago & it's absolutely the best film set in India or about India that I've ever seen. People in Bollywood should watch this & learn how a movie is really made. There wasn't a song every 20 min. & they showed a lot of the crushing realities & poverty in India. In Bollywood movies they never show you anything real about India; they make it seem like all people do in India is sing, dance & fall in love. Watching this made me miss India; I wonder if they'll like it in India.

  • truly an amazing movie saw it last night

  • Very cleverly made!

    Fantastic movie!

  • Although India is growing and has grown in all fields, but the slums remains, the kids still their! i think this film will go a long run for helping those people and specially kids of slums. may be some people or org's will get inspired and do something for the kids. who knows their might be many kids who become real slum dog millionaires.

  • I agree. What you've said in your comment disgusts me, but it's the truth. I personally think the soundtrack he composed for Rang de Basanti was better than this one...

  • Danny boyle in an interview said amongst the films that he had as inspirations while making this movie was an indian film called SATYA..and me being an indian can say that it is a true blue masterpiece of a take on the mumbai gangsters..the indian answer to tarantino..for anyone whos intrested i highly recommend that movie..
