Will Crockett show professional photographers why they may need to use a radio-based wireless triggering system instead of the weak light-based ones in their flashes. Then he makes it easy for you to decide which one of the pro systems is best for you.

  • Hey Kenlor, you are absolutely right my friend. It DOES work well in the right conditions. As a working pro, we are exposed to all kinds of situations and need a fail-safe solution - so we use a radio based system. I know other pros who use the built-in systems too but they work around the limitations. I don't have the tolerance / patience for that. This video just brings that point up. Now, your idea of the ND gel to "hide" the preflash is stinkin brilliant! Have you tested it?

  • Wireless iTTL works fine as long as you use it in the appropriate situation. I'm testing a theory with using ND filters on the IR receiver on the flash in daylight to counter the light level of the ambient light, allowing the cls transmitter to trigger the flash. Also wrapping optical triggers with ND filter gel to do the same to trigger non CLS flashes. Could be a cheap solution as long as we have line of site triggering.

  • Pointless!!!

  • 'The flash HERE (pointing at the IR window), to spit out an IR signal..' sounds and looks like he's referring to the receiver.

  • @MrTubetunes He did said the flash. I dont think he meant the IR receiver. The signal is generated by the flash itself which i am sure he knows.

  • 1:54 Do you really think that the IR receiver on the speedlight ACTUALLY transmits IR as well? You can't be serious!!?
