yes and no,
hold each stretch for about two minuites. no more than three. but there are a huge varity of stretches that you can do. Just make sure that if you plan on stretching for a long time that you have the room nice and warm and you get up and jump around a bit every once in a while to keep the blood flowing (a.k.a keeping your muscles warm)

Nice variations and tips. I've been stretching for years and have heard of contraction/relaxion methods before but I've never heard your method of contracting the "Opposing" muscle groups before. I heard contracting and releasing the target group youre aiming for. I'll give youre method a try..thanks! I'm a kungfu guy and not a pole dancer *LOL*
