This was the first attempt at feeding my yellow faced whip snake a rodent who previous to this had only eaten fish. It was a live pinky scented with its regular feeder fish. The snake didn't hesitate at taking the prey item but unfortunately the mouse was just a little too big for him and he couldn't finish his meal. All up he spent nearly an hour trying to get it down.

Apologies for the crappy camera and abrupt end, i ran out of batteries before i could finish filming.

##I do not support live feeding of rodents to reptiles##
Live was used in this case only due to the fussy nature of these elapids. They hunt on sight and rarely take anything that is cold or not moving.

  • is there a fish in the bowl?

  • @xDizzYv1 Yes there is, the snake was fed fish for a long time. I put it in the bowl to see if it would 'fish' for them like some other species do. It didn't.

  • @LawEnf0rc3r They aren't cheaper, especially if you go by weight. Where i live you look at about $1.60 for a fish or $1 for a pinky mouse. Mice freeze alot better aswell.

  • @waruikazi OK... Then why don't you carry on feeding it fish instead? Feeder fish seems better judging from how you put it, and i believe they are cheaper compare to feeder mice...

  • @LawEnf0rc3r Using lizards as feeders can give your snake parasites, which in the wild isn't a problem for me but in captivity could cause the death of my snake. After force feeding with fish this snake very quickly began feeding voluntarily. Then i used pinkies scented with fish and once he was big enough it very quickly took them and it wasn't long before he started taking unscented pinkies. Not what i would call a head ache, much easier than furinas and other small elapids.

  • @waruikazi Whip snakes feed exclusively on lizards! So why don't you get it a feeder lizard at the very first place? It can spare you all the trouble and headaches of coaxing it to eat what it does not naturally!

  • love ur video, just one thing, get a better camera......as for the softcocks complaining, what a bunch of fucking girls
