One of the most stirring scenes in Jacques Rivette's masterful 1969 film "L'Amour Fou." The film is a great portrait of a marriage in crisis, occuring as both a theatrical production and a documentary take shape. Bulle Ogier and Jean-Pierre Kalfon are featured in this scene; the most notable fact is that Kalfon was indeed cutting himself as the scene was shot. Why the film was subtitled white-on-white is a mystery, one that is still perpetuated today with subtitled films. The film *needs* to be put out in a superior copy in the U.S. (as do many other works by Rivette).
