  • @raymieX Thanks for letting me know that. I thought "Move Closer To Your World My Friend" was strictly a Charleston phenomena with WCSC and a childhood memory lost forever. I checked out the Philly version and its almost identical to what I remember, only somewhat more uptempo. But I still got a nostalgic rush. God bless you tube!

  • @Themaddprof That's a very famous news and image package. It dates to 1970 and has almost cult/historic status in a couple markets — Philly and Buffalo particularly. You might be able to find other stations' versions of that in addition to it. MCTYW opens and promos, because the package peaked in the 70s, are relatively hard to get on a national level.

  • I was away at college during this time, so I don't remember this. But as a kid who grew up in Charleston, it's good to see since so many of Channel 5's vidoes were destroyed by Hurricane Hugo in 1989. I remember a similar promo from Channel 5 in the 1970s that I loved as a kid that went "Move closer to your world my friend." Wonder if that exists anywhere?

  • This kind of choked me up seeing some of this again after over 20 years

  • Bill Sharpe ought to be rich by now, he's been with these guys for thirty years.

  • an interesting tidbit: the intro of the third piece (starting at 1:05 roughly) was also used as the intro to WXIA 11Alive Atlanta's "Were With You on 11 Alive" image campaign; the style was more adult contemporary sounding, with Michael Bolton providing the vocal, but it's clearly the same intro (by the way, I like those pieces almost as much as I like "Say Hello!")
