In which I tell a story of a bizarre encounter I had with two young, clean-cut objectivists. Who is John Galt? And who is this Immanuel Kant guy they are so scared of???

Please respond with your best and scariest ghost stories about Immanuel Kant and why he's so scary to Objectivists

  • Arrogant? Sorry... RAndy.

  • In the fire of a discussion with Andy I disregarded, in a little bit arrogant way.. this vid, but it's fun to watch and Andy made a great suggestive point here. TNX Andy.

  • Elias Canetti original idea was to name his novel: "Kant on Fire". The English translation "Auto da Fe" isn't doing the German title justice: "Die Blendung" (1935) meaning blindness. The main chapters are called: "A Head without a World", "Headless World" and "The World in the Head" it's also about 'the mass', in surprisingly forms, ruling individuals. Rand and Canetti have some more parallels: both refugees, obsessive and headstrong. Chemist Canetti was more a poet and regarded non-perfection.

  • A year ago I discovered Ayn Rand. I didn't knew she wrote a bible for neocons and many other Americans. Greenspan was in her club. I read the "Fountain Head". Her vision of individuality and the collective...is sharp and psychological deep. But she was, as refugee from Communism ironical enough, also idealistic and arrogant. There is no self-deprecating point of view, as in Canetti's "Autoda Fe". The world in Ayn Rand's Head is to ideological to be real. She disregarded e.g. children: a sign.

  • Years ago two guys ringed on my door. They were mormons from far America on an evangelical tour in the Netherlands. We talked. I was in 1988 in Salt Lake city and visite the Mormon temple. I let the boys in and they were very decent to talk to. They talked about their religion and the mormon bible. I talked about my favourite book "Crowds and Power". They gave me a mormon bible translated in Dutch. I still have it. Never joined the club. Those boys were very nice to talk to..

    Paranoia rules.

  • I never get tired of watching this. Excellent.

  • LOL!!! Bravo!

  • @andrewzot LOL true

  • @marcus53002 If Kant is as influential as you claim, then people who believe he is a bad influence *should* fight against that influence - contrary to @randyhelzerman 's viewpoint in this video.
