This small guitar packs a real punch. With top quality tonewoods and a Schertler Bluestick pickup it produces beautiful sounds with fat basses and trebles. The guitar is from the top of the range but costs less than the high end brands. Make no mistake this guitar is right up there with Martins and Taylors. I play for myself only so as I just wanted simple amplification I bought a Roland 30w Cube monitor and the Schertler system works a treat with this, giving startlingly good acoustic sound. There is a graphic equaliser but no effects which was okay by me as I just wanted louder sound. It seems to work pretty well. The tune samples are some picking in D tuning of my own followed by the first part of Hana by Masaaki Kishibe. I can only play in dropped tunings these days due to injury but it is better than not playing at all.

  • i really like the look and sound of freshman guitars and have about £320 to spend. Looking for an acoustic NOT electoacoustic. Help would be much appreciated?

  • @GreenlightWales Spend as much as you can afford and try out the guitars before you buy to get the sound that you want. More money better woods better sound. Bigger body bigger sound. Smaller body more balanced tone overall -less bass domination and better treble. I hope that you find one to suit. Freshman is a good company that cares about quality from the cheapest to the dearest. You tend to get a lot of guitar for your money with them so they are excellent value.

  • I just bought an FA500CED and am very impressed! I tried out Taylor,Gibson,Martin and Larrivee. The Freshman is right up there with them all and a good bit less expensive. Beautiful tones and feels so good to play.

Your one sounds wonderful. The cedar top one in the 500 series is awesome too by the way! Nice playing. Thanks.

  • @aliwhitwell Very good choice - the cedar version got rave reviews in the guitar press when it came out but I have never seen one. The tonewoods are excellent and the overall sound is perfectly balanced. I like it a lot but still miss the big dreadnought sound sometimes. The Taylors were good to play but very expensive in comparison. The 500 series is definitely up there with the big brands for sound and quality of finish,

  • Nice guitar. First time I ever heard your voice before. The guitar shall sound good in pubs and places with that roland amp. I've a roland to an acoustic chorus ac series. Good demo.

  • @KarloR27

I considered the AC33 but the monitor was half the price and gave me a good sound. I may get an acoustic effects box to be able to add chorus, reverb etc. You can have good fun with the AC33 looper.
