    It seems to me that Dr Hyman is just trying to emphasize life style changes, which is really basic thinking that many people miss. of course we all have different genetics which is why we need to further modify this to meet our needs. But the basic message is good.

    Sir, I do not know if you are diabetic...I am in my 70's...Have diabetes about 10 years....take no meds.....control by diet only....basically low carb. Common sense approach..your body can't handle carbs. or anything that turns to sugar when you eat it...so don't eat it..such as milk, fruit , potatoes ,corn , grains of any kind...seems restrictive, but you stay alive! Blood sugar ranges from 85 to 130. Dangerous to eat any other way!
