This video is useful if you have a sealed central heating system/combination boiler. Often the boiler will not work unless there is enough pressure in the boiler, this video shows you how to repressurise or fill up the system. Brought to you by http://www.ultimatehandyman.co.uk/

  • @tomaswarnes

    You are welcome ;-)

  • I got a wood gasifier it is recomened that it has 1.5 bars but when i heat up the system at the peak it climbs to 3,5 pressure can something happen to my radiators or pipes? it has a valve when it climbs over 3,5 bars it starts to leak water out of it slowly. so am i safe? or something bad can happen if i burn the boiler too hot.

I'm not familiar with a wood gasifier but on a combination boiler if the pressure is rising so much that the pressure is relieved via the PRV it normally means that the expansion vessel is faulty or the filling loop is passing (if connected). Your best bet is to ask someone that is familiar with the wood gasifier ;-)

  • @ultimatehandyman ok thanks, will give this a try. I have a feeling it might be the filling loop itself. We have a black tap one end and a different type of valve at the other which a previous plumber had trouble with when fitting a towl rail. I have a feeling that valve might be closed (its not a black tap)but i dont want to open it in case it leaks becuase i think it did for him!

The pipe that connects to the black valve tap. It sounds like this pipe is frozen somewhere, that is why when you open the valve nothing happens.

  • @ultimatehandyman hi, sorry for being stupid but which water pipe are you referring to? presumabley not one in my boiler itself! boiler is ideal istor. bit of a mare!

  • @smokin999uk

You'll need to thaw out the water pipe I am afraid.

You can do this by pouring hot (not boiling) water over the pipe.

  • Hi, I tried this by opening the black valve tap (I only have the one tap). Normally I would hear water filling the system and the pressure gage going up but today nothing is happening with the valve open. What could this be? My gage is at zero but heating and taps are all functioning fine. It is a freezing day so maybe my supply line is temporarily blocked with ice. Any advice would be great!

You are welcome- well done ;-)
