if you dont mind me asking, how come it re-fractured? i had mine on january, hopefully off in a few months .... and was it the hostpital, or just one of those things?

Hi, it was a combo of both. Due to the ammount of damage I recieved to the limb it just would not heal! I took the lizzi off got back to the ward & it just poped. The problem was that the Dr on duty said it would be ok & sent me home. The local hospital were unable to deal with it & went mad & cast me from hip to toe, with instructions to get it sorted urgently! hence the next external support!

Make sure they take extensive X rays & read em properly before yours is removed.

Having mine on was horrific! I went through 1 1/2 of pain. I had 6 1/2 rings, 30 pinsites (15 through my leg) and i have to get it done next july :/

Amazing! I'm day 5 after my ilizarov surgery for fracture of tib n fib, after 2 weeks in a temporary fixator. It's been very painful but particularly sore as they had to jig my ankle into a better position as the temporary fixator was loose. Just trying to manage pain at the moment.

Interesting video though! I got to film my surgery but my consultant asked me not to put it online.

I had an Ilizarov fixator on my left leg from knee to ankle when I was 12 due to a serious bow. I had my frame removed under anaesthetic and watching this video has actually made me squeamish. You're very brave to take the frame off yourself, but it makes me wonder why you'd want to do it. Having the thing on my leg for four months was painful enough...I couldn't have done this.

i had 1 Ilizarov frame on when i was only 11 and the other when i was 15 and had a plate in my leg and two plasters just on one leg. but well done man they really hurts

My name is Trudi, you probably don't remember me, but I certainly remember you! You emailed this video to the ilizarov yahoo forum - I fractured my ankle 4 years ago and wore a frame, but my treatment was very successful.

I just wanted to know how you were getting on? Did the stem cell treatment work? I distinctly remember you were under the care of a Professor and that this treatment was being pioneered. I do home that you have had the monorail fixator removed.

Hi am kind of on the same wave with everyone here. i kind of did the same thing as simon i broke my tib/fib fractured my talus and fractured my hip i have my 4th ilizarov frame fitted in december and 2 fusions done. 2 rings with a foot support brace to my ankle and was fitted with the side fixation kind of like the one you have currently simon but more up my hip....

i will put a few pictures of both my ilizarov and fusion recovering legs on a video :D

@SimonGill012 ill be having mine off while im asleep, so it will be a case of, they will put a cast on the second the frames off, so hopefully all should be good, and im sorry to here that

@SimonGill012 It was because i had deformed feet. I? had it on for 6 months. My foot still hurts. I can only walk so far, i'm kinda housebound :(. What happened to your foot :P
