OK, so this is my first try at making a surfboard out of plywood. The fin is pine and the leash-pin is poplar.

  • Hey so thank you for the video i was wondering by gluing it in the concave you want it will stay like that? thanks

  • @slashdude44 Yup... rather than try to shape it I bent it... and yes, the board will definitely hold it's shape that way...

I've seen some videos online where people will actually shape a wooden board, usually with balsa or koa wood or something, but it wastes a lot of material and although I never did it myself I think it would take a heck of a long time...

  • @basilg78 hahhahah yes me and my dad just built a partly solid wood board and it took a year but it looks beautiful riding it tomorrow so excited

  • @slashdude44 sounds pretty awesome... I can't believe it took you a solid year! If you have pictures or a video I'd like to see...

  • @slashdude44 ...and how did it go?!

  • hey, ive been surfing for along time and have quite a few boards, but none like this... how much do you think you would charge to make me one of these??

  • @SuperSurfergirly The materials are inexpensive but it still takes me 40 to 50 hours to do one... I think I'd be asking about $850... You're welcome to come try one out especially on a winter saturday in NJ... let me know...

  • @trev1582 it's what you'd expect from a board that's a little heavy - so it handles chop well, duck-dives great and holds a decent line... definitely not a high performance board though...

  • How did it handle when you took it out?

  • @pad4053

Definitely go the extra mile to do some research on materials, the process, yada yada yada... I'll try to post replies faster too if you have questions.

I think more work needs to be done to keep it from delaminating now too... I got some splitting in one of the boards. If you're thinking about making one of these: 1. Use a waterproof glue or epoxy 2. Install a vent plug in the top before you glue it to the other layers so the pressure can release
