Bus Howard, Capitol Tap, Coyaba Dance Theater & Urban Artistry proudly present "ORIGINS: One Heart Beat" sponsored by a grant from the Arts & Humanities Council of Montgomery County.

From birth to death, there exists one constant: the heart beat... and yet over time this constant changes. When we are young, our hearts race with the excitement of exploring a new world, finding love and striving to create movements and sounds that define us, and our shared identity. We are at times deflated from defeat, or our hearts can swell with renewed energy... the pulse that keeps tempos of temperament and age does not discriminate. As we grow older, we find our own rhythms in life challenged and sustained through what we consider as tradition, legacy, or simply something worth fighting for. Changes of heart have us wandering through our social and political movements as well as within the intimate context of family, kinship, and community. Expanding and contracting how we understand ourselves in seemingly disparate contexts will shed light on how similar our stories, and our spirits truly are. Capitol Tap, Coyaba Dance Theater and Urban Artistry ask you to join us in exploring the parallels and paradoxes within this life cycle of the movements, music, and cultures that make us go.
