Tamira Thayne - Founder of Dogs Deserve Better at 2009 Animal Rights Conference

Tamira Thayne is founder and executive director of Dogs Deserve Better, a national nonprofit organization dedicated to ending the chaining and penning of dogs, and bringing 'man's best friend' into the home and family. She is an animal advocate and artist living in rural Pennsylvania. Tammy holds a B.A. in Art from the University of Maryland, and a B.A. in Naturology from the American Institute for Holistic Theology. In September 2006, she was arrested in PA for helping a dying chained dog who could not stand.

Id like to ask you if you have ever been chained to your house for weeks leading to years. If you say this Is Ignorant Id have to abject because what this lady is doing is a miracle. She is changing the lives of thousands of animals acoss the world.

I've never seen so much ignorance all in one place. My hounds have the run of our property 12 hours a day. They have acres on which to roam and exercise. The other 12 hours a day, or if we are away, they are in their heated, cement floored kennel, with insulated dog boxes, clean bedding, and running water. To say that they are penned is accurate. To say that they are abused is idiocy. Get a life.

As a child growing up, Chaining a dog is what I thought you did. Then my girlfriend with her teddy bear instincts changed all that. My dogs do not wear leashes and are always at my side. I love them and love all animals and am a human hater sometimes. dumbass humans... No bad dogs just bad owners....
