I considered not uploading this video right now, because of all of the drama surrounding Thunderf00t, but I don't think waiting will make it better. After all, I actually made the video last week.

I also want to point out that I don't believe that Thunderf00t is alone in this form of intellectual elitism. His recent videos just put him firmly in my thoughts.

  • Maybe school boards cant be specialists in everything, but to remove important parts of biology, change history books for the worst, and promote teaching ID in schools? I don't fucking think so.

  • College, just a little bit more successful than marriage.

  • If it weren't for ditch diggers, i wouldn't look so successful and happy. thank you ditch diggers.

  • "Glenn-Beckish" Prole would be a better word.

  • How to not end the "from" question with a preposition? The no end of sentence prepositions rule is just a rule that came about in the 19th century was English, a Germanic language, was going through a Latinization process.

  • Buddy, go sit in on a Texas school board meeting and come back and see if you can say the same thing.

  • @debbieomi That I'm fine with, my issue is more when a school board without expertise is deciding on curriculum since these tends to lead to, for example, removing evolution from biology. This is why I suggested the idea of a committee, such as the one you described, being responsible for curriculum. So it seems your district has got a good system. I think the only concern I may have is if the school board decides to go against the committee's recommendations.

  • @vnorthru Not all curriculum is decided that way. In my district, we have a curriculum committee comprised of teachers and administrators. They wade through all the books, etc and make recommendations to the school board. The materials are available to them to view before the vote but the board itself isn't out looking for it.

  • In the conversation between PZ and TF, did they actually say that only science should be supported in schools and only by scientists? If not then you've made a lovely strawman here.

In the clip you showed PZ was saying that there were people not even interested in education on the board, and in my books that's a problem. School boards should be occupied by people who want to give children a complete education, and I believe that's what PZ & TF were getting at.

  • However, he was right about that kid being reeeeeeally Glenn Beckish. I mean, seriously. His tone of voice is a direct ripoff.

  • Thunderf00t's an elitist douche bag, who probably got through school on mommy and/or daddy's bank account, and if punched in the face would probably cry and call the police.

I like most of his videos though.

  • Yeah, well said Sir.
