1)It's good to see the Church has smart and respectful people who have a beautiful devotion to the Truth

The Catholic church is indeed ...quaint. Consider that the only Nazi excommunicated was Joseph Goebbels. Why? Well he married a divorced woman. Not only that she was a Protestant. And although they have had lists of banned books, they never banned Mein Kampf. It must be hard to follow, but I'm sure it must be right.

It seems you do not clearly understand excommunication, how it comes about and what its purpose is. Excommunication can be an automatic consequence of an action. In the case of the Nazi party it was also pronounced by German bishops (as competent authority) in 1930 and 1932 inasmuch as belonging to the NSDAP and the RCC was seen incompatible. This view was shared by the Nazis. Virtually all SS-officers left the Catholic (or protestant) Church. 1933 things became more complicated...

Continued... and with the rise of Hitler to power. Hitler started with an apparent moderation of his stances. The German bishops response (Fuldaer Erklärung) did not retract the earlier concerns, but (sadly) lifted the sanctions, against what was now the democratically elected government. Choices in history are complex. Some seem clearly wrong in retrospect, but fair judgment on them is not easy. If you take the time to study history beyond ideology you will find the same.

I guess it will be for the best if we both try as good as we can. Though I do actually have a PhD in the subject, I would always concede that there should never be an end to the search for truth.
