Minecraft Snapshot 13w02b Animated Textures Test

So I wanted to find out how far I could go with the new ability to animate textures in Minecraft, and it turns out you can take it pretty far, it's not the most efficient though.

I spent quite some time experimenting with this and here's what I got:

12 wool blocks re-textured at 128 x 128 px w/ 2536 frames each (20 frames / second)

Minecraft claims it's using 0.3 - 1.5 gigabytes of RAM, but Java is using more than 4 gigabytes with this texture pack, so if you want to try this, make sure you have RAM to spare. Minecraft ran out of memory several times.

Programs used:
After Effects: Cut video into individual blocks, convert frame rate, resize segments to 128 x 128 px, export to 12 PNG sequences
IrfanView: Convert PNG sequences to Minecraft texture pack compatible filmstrips
