If these practices are directed specifically at the wives of the prophet, then why are they so ardently IMPOSED upon modern day Muslim women? Why can a strange man BEAT a women in the streets that he perceives to have done some wrong? It seems that Islam has so many restrictions upon women when it is really the men who are guilty of the sins.
