This is my 1992 Geo Metro 1.0L 3 cylinder 3 speed automatic. This car had a measly 55hp and the same in torque and could barely get out of its own way. So I decided to turbo the car. I pulled the turbo from a Volvo 940 and the intercooler from a Saab. I bought a small arc welder and made the manifold, pardon the ugly welds but it holds. Equipment list: TD04H-13C Saab Blackstone intercooler Boost referenced fuel enrichment through the CTS 2 inch exhaust with one resonator and a glasspack at the tip
I am in the process of changing the turbo to a Garrett T-25 with a different intercooler, so I will post up as the project progresses!

I was so ashamed of that manifold, to this day I have no idea how it held together. I was using 1/16 rods, not the primo rod. If you look at my new video, you will see the new manifold that was done using 3/32 7018 rods, I ground them down, but the weld had good penetration. Thing I love about the 7018 is when the amperage is just right, the slag almost falls off on its own. Chaos, such a fitting word for this project.
try using a different metal. i had to modify the 3" exhaust on my subie with an arc welder. the welds looked pretty good and had complete penetration. the 3/32 rods work well as they have a wider kerf width. i'm sure there are kits to make a manifold out there if you ever feel the need to upgreade.
if you look and my other video, you will see the new setup. I did use different metal and had little to no issues, just a little over-run now and then.
ok, cool! well i know the factory turbo on the (pontiac firefly turbo/ canada only car) its turbo was a "ihi rb32" and its kinda small. and i understand that. and what cam are you going to run?
and oh, SWEET! i have watched some other videos on here (youtube) and some turbo metros sound sweet, and some like crap! lol! but that sounds really cool! i can't wait to see the next vid! lol! and oh one other thing, this is a first time seeing someone turboing an auto metro! so this will be sweet!
lol, I changed it. Also, I HATE the fart can cars, I am using a 2 1/4 inch exhaust with a resonator midline and a 6x10 glasspack at the tip. rumbly, but not ricey.
hey, thanks for the props! I am in the process of putting a T-25 on the car instead of the TD04. As for the manifold, I am limited to that due to a lack of a mandrel bender. The log manifold has worked well so far, the torque gain was amazing. I ordered a 27x5x2 intercooler that will sit low in the bumper, hope to have a video of that up by the end of the week.
