http://www.shotokanunleashed.com Gojushiho Sho (Japanese: 54 Steps Minor) is the minor form of 2 gojushiho kata practiced in Shotokan Karate. The embusen (kata performance line) of both Gojushiho dai and Gojushiho Sho are nearly identical.
Some Shotokan groups reverse the names and refer to gojushiho sho as Gojushiho dai. performed by Linden Huckle of http://www.zanshinmkd.com

  • The answer to your question lies in the bunkai. Kata are just an exercise without bunkai and most JKA teachers do not go into realistic bunkai because they changed their kata in the early period and lost the bunkai. Kata actually stemmed from experience and were made of bunkai based techniques. This kata done this way lacks bunkai because it does not show in the kata. An experienced person can see if the practitioner is doing the bunkai as he executes and this guy is not.

    Kumite is not jissen.

  • Well Keme and controll.. all good!

But i think his mygeri is too bad!!!

  • well u a a big and trong guy, and yr hip movement and hands are very good. kicks and legs are not at same level, but who of us is perfect ( knee too low when kicking starts) ? a solid perfomance, shotikan is a strong style indeed , u showe that in practise.

  • your arnt supposed to try n use the kata itself in a self defense capacity or in kumite. Its a training tool to developpe power , speed and balance, power and stability to name a few. in a fight , you arnt going to perform these complex maneuvers with ease, without decades of arduous training of course, but youll respond a lot better

  • well - I would use nothing of this kata in a kumite. but this kata teaches really good how to behave when you when you only barely can see you enemy - at night for example ^^ :)

  • this is an honest question that i would be grateful if you would indulge. how much of the kata would one use in a self defense capacity or in an actual kumite?

  • Well done. I thought for your height you really had great control of your body.
