President Richard Nixon is recorded watching a television football game with his daughter Julie Nixon Eisenhower at Camp David. The president, who was an enthusiastic football fan, is perturbed when the Dallas Cowboys make a touchdown near the end of the game, likely ensuring the defeat of his team, the Washington Redskins. This is a rare instance when Nixon was recorded in a leisure moment. This is part of the nearly 200 hours of additional Nixon recordings that the Nixon Library has just released (Dec 2008).

Final score was Dallas 34, Washington 24. Washington (Nixon's team) was 11-1 going into this game but lost (here to Dallas) and then Buffalo the next week to finish the season 11-3.

Revenge: Washington knocked Dallas out of the playoffs 2 weeks later, 26-3.

The Skins made it to the Super Bowl but lost the 1972 Miami Dolphins, the only undefeated NFL team ever.

The 70s Redskins were very good but didn't win a SB til the 80s. I think Nixon was friends with coach George Allen.
