Start by having the system in standby.

Hold the power button down till the system will turn on and turn off.

Press and hold the power button again, and hold it: it will beep as it turns on and then it will double beep. When you hear the double beep immediately take your finger off the power button

You will be prompted to plug in your controller via USB and then hit the PS button.

Now you'll see a series of options, this is VERY important, as a miss click will result in erasing your PS3 HDD.

The option you want to click is RESTORE FILE SYSTEM.

Finally, it is going to restart and bring up a screen reading Corrupted System Data. Your PS will now replace this data Then you choose continue and that should be it.

  • This is not how to fix error 80010514. It is simply that the blu ray is not reading the disc. I tried everything anyone has come up. It is NOT corrupted (and resets don't fix firmware fuckups anyway.) My ps3 would not work at all anymore, cd, dvd, games, nada. I took it apart and cleaned the laser lens with a Q-Tip and rubbing alcohol and now it works perfectly. I have not gotten the error at all since. YOUR LENS IS DIRTY. It's that simple.

  • Mw3 is doing this to my ps3 :(

  • @GanjaStevo420 that would be great, try make it easy to follow. i was thinking of buying a new laser to replace the other maybe a higher quality one might last longer? and cos i think maybe the laser might have burnt out and the cleaning process might be a waist of time? but either way i will have to take apart so yeah..im only playing games at the mo what i download off the store :(

  • @yoooooooooo97 No problem. I will make a vid to show you guys how to take a part the newer PS3 and clean the laser. It isn't easy to get into it.You have to have a star bit screwdriver with a hole to get the 4 front screws out. The bluray is NOT removable in the more recent PS3 model. To get to the laser get the top cover off the PS3, take the top off the blu ray player (3 small screws), remove the disc track (2 screws). You will see the 2 lasers after you lift that off. Qtip and rubbing alcohol

  • @GanjaStevo420 thankyou! i thought it would be this.. i just know theres a big lump of dust sitting on my laser...now need to take apart ffs

  • @Maartenn2930 I tried the reset and my ps3 worked for 6 hours and started up with that error again. I had already opened my ps3 and the lens looked clean so I didn't bother with the alcohol the first time. When the error came back and wouldn't go away I took the ps3 apart again and cleaned the lens. I still have not had the error since I posted that first comment a week ago. If you get the error after trying the reset you know it's not a software issue.

  • @GanjaStevo420 Not the problem in all cases, sometimes this works perfectly. I tried your tip first but the lens(es) weren't dirty at all, then tried this an worked perfectly.

  • So yea I just did this, hoping that it would fix my error, I went through the steps and I still have the error.

  • Thanks man. The game that caused this was brand new so you let me avoid the stress of going through garauntees and stuff.
