Yeah, my Wii was making a horrible noise, and this was the solution that seems to have worked...no bending metal or anything, just loosening some screws!

And yeah, the screwdriver is called TRI WING, not y-wing... xD

Updates:
-4 Sep 2011: Still working fine... :)
-12 Oct 2011: Ditto!
-25 Nov 2011: No noise :)

  • @unclepie924 Screws too tight, at least in my case. Consequences? Well typically, a broken disc drive. I don't know what it is that exactly breaks, but I've heard many reports of people having to send their consoles back to get repaired. I mean the noise comes from friction, so if something like that is going on all the time, it just can't be good...

  • What are the causes for the metal to push against the disc? And what are the consequences if i leave the Wii as it OS and let the noise keep going?

  • @zerohawk69 No prob! Mine is still working...

  • Thank you, this was very helpful and informative!
