This BMW 525 -94 was tested in Uppsala (Sweden) 2006. The car has a chip installed which suppose to give +15 hp (original 192 hp). I don´t know if that´s true but you can judge for yourselves...

  • I have a bmw exactly the same but it won't go to 7000 rpm :(.

    1st gear-60 km/h

    2st gear-100 km/h

    3st gear-150 km/h. But it still nice, because it's 20 year old :D

  • @kabanashvili Install a power chip :)

  • why the redline???

the redline is very bad for the engine

    the limiter is 6500RPM

over de 6500 is very bad for the engine

  • @bmwwesley1 Dude i'ts an old car. Who cares about the engine? I just want to have fun :)

  • Why not? The power is still there and the next gear will begin on a more effecive level.

  • @spl3ndr If you look at curves you also know that the torque is dropping after it's climax at 3500 rpm. maximum power is generated at 6500 rpm with the powerchip installed. Rev limit moved up to 7000 rpm. So the real question is not about the torque (power and torque is different things), it's about were you find maximum power. In this case my feeling is that i benefit of almost hitting the limiter. I have certainly not tested it on a serious level so it's just my feeling.

  • @matte102 Because the torque plummets after 6500 rpm. U can see the curves dropping rapidly at any dyno graph beyond a certain point. Beyond that is useless.

If U shift up at the right moment ( right at 6500) the next gear will benefit from the all the torque the engine can give.

If u shift too late, u miss a few hundred rpm's worth of torque, thus U will go slower.

Revving the nuts off things won't make em go any faster.

  • chip makes it go to over 6k2 RPM...nice to know that you have some more space...

have you been to dyno test? just to see the result of this 7k rpm....

  • @Haffschlappe No, it's a stock engine (M52B25)

  • Thats an ALPINA engine?!?

    NICE!

  • Brawo ;P

  • @bmwwesley1 redline is not limiter limiter on most cars is well past redline and imposible 2 rev past thats what a rev limiter does stops it revving past a certain point 2 stop you damaging your engine you bloody youtube mechanic

  • oh man that was fuckin fast.
