@jtruffles man i remember watching this on Raw @ age 13. I really thought Pac was gunna win the title. And this was when JR was fucking PRIME.

Whats with people saying that one of them was better than the other in this match? It's an old expression used in the wrestling world ; "It takes two to tango." And BOTH of them did an magnificent job of making this an entertaining classic.

I'm not crapping on this match at all. It's a classic. I hate they didn't sell the missed moonsault to the outside even more. Shawn got up and walked up the ring steps and took another miss.

3:58 always had a legit powerbomb for being a pretty small guy

That was a work of art as far as technical skills and storytelling go.

@baker187 We know Waltman is great but its a matter of Bret using psychology to showcase those skills and make the people believe the Kid (the underdog) is on Bret's level and a threat to the championship. It makes for good, compelling storytelling.
I want to say something to anyone who would claim Waltman outperformed Bret in this match. Bret's performance was just more subtle than Waltman's. Like WrestleMania XIII which ushered in Austin's era, Bret was playing setup man. Bret's history of excellence took no tarnish by letting Waltman show his stuff. The company and the match profited more by a strong showing from Waltman. This match better served Bret as a character exploration of sportsmanship rather than having him pummel the kid.

I don't remember this match, but I'm glad I caught it here on youtube. Awesome match. 123 Kid did very well. Bret, as always, was excellent. He made them both look really good. The ending was classic. We the fans are the winners in this match.
