In 2009, I wrote an article about some Orwellian events going on at the time. I called it "Celebrating George Orwell Week", based on George Orwell's famous book "1984".

Talk host Roger Hedgecock read some of my article on the air, and praised my thoughts.
However, Hedgecock gave Ronald Reagan undue credit for 1984's predictions supposedly not coming true by the actual year, 1984. But I differ with that. Reagan's war on drugs was based on the notion that if you were free to do so, you'd get hooked on drugs. This can be directly translated into one of Orwell's ominouse Party Slogans: Freedom is Slavery. I'd say Orwell's prediction of 1984 was pretty much on target.
