Hamza Yusuf - Heavens and the Earth - Part 1

Humanity is now able to receive the Final Revelation that embraces all Truth and sorts out the human touch in the previous Scriptures. 6:34, 6:91, 6:115-116, 10:64, 15:9 18:27, 41:53, 75:16-19.

This is because GOD is the Lord of all humanity and now the Quran invites all mankind to become one community. His Final Revelation is not confined to a particular tribe, nation or group of people. 2:213, 3:96, 4:170, 6:91-92, 7:158, 10:19, 12:104, 21:107, 22:49, 34:28, 38:87, 57:25, 114:1.]

"O Humanity! Behold, We have created you male and female, and have made you into nations and tribes so that you might come to know one another. Verily, the most honored among you, in the Sight of GOD, is the one who lives most upright. Behold, GOD is Knower, Aware." (Quran 49:13)

That's a good question,

What Hamza Yusuf is trying to say, should be viewed in allegorical terms. He's saying that just as humans use their modern gadgets to help them navigate through the Earth. However, some of us have forgotten that the same GPS "Global Positioning System" that our mondern gadgets is dependent upon, that the GPS itself is also dependent upon something else..

Hence, Stars seems to be the obvious candidate, as they have been used throughout history to help humans navigate through the Earth. In other words "GPS" = GOD's Positioning System.

the land and on the sea. (And they will never fail to guide you 36:40). We have scattered Our Signs for a people who will exercise their intellects." (Quran 6:97)

Yes, he does do good for Islam, and is clearly intelligent. But intelligence in of itself does not always mean you are right. (e.g Steven Hawking has a high iq, but is an atheist)

I have nothing personal against Hamza Yusuf, and as I type this, the video is playing and it is very interesting.

At the same time, he is incorrect on some some aspects of theology.

@darklight254 you should watch what he says about that.... he's been labeled that by some, but he said he isnt in a news interview. he sees himself as a muslim... without labeling, with his intensive study of the religion and his intellect and intelligence you'd guess he'd know better. as far as I know he's on a great track for islam and he's doing more than anyone else did for islam for a long while.

You've misunderstood. Sufism is fundamentally based upon bidah & Shirk.

They call on others beside Allah in their dua. They have invented their own mystical ways to worship Allah, they refuse to follow the methodology provided by the messenger - and in their sheer arrogance dance around thinking they come closer to Allah in this way ???!!!!!????!!!!

Regarding Hamza Yusuf, indeed he has his qualities but his institution promotes shirk. There is no other WAY to put it.
