A New Hope

YES, THE1KOOLKITTY IS BACK IN ACTION!!! I flew home from Orlando two days ago and so am back home with my computer, ready to make the new AMVs I've been mulling over for the last six months! And this is the first one I finished...I first heard this song from and was VERY inspired by this vid http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GHg-Zn_oqdI , and as soon as I got home, I bought the song and got to work on this. Originally I'd thought of having Fakir "grow up" into another anime character who would then live his life writing stories before dying, but I couldn't find a character that suited the look of a grown up Fakir (the closest I thought up were Roy and Hughes from Fullmetal Alchemist, but they didn't really work), and in the end I figured just using Fakir would make it a whole lot easier. I tried a BUNCH of overlays in this, trying to add a "crossover" feel to it by adding things like the roses and the "memories" and "stories" reflecting over different scenes...tell me if they work or are distracting! I also tried a different version of the watermark I was trying to use...is it better than the red version in the Everything You Want vid? What do you guys think?

Hopefully the story is easy enough to understand, but just in case, here's a clipped note summary -- after the series ends, Ahiru goes back to being a duck and, as he promised, Fakir promised to stay by her side, but he can't help but miss Ahiru in her human form. When Fakir goes out to brood (as Fakir does), Ahiru follows him in concern. The ravens sense that their enemies are out and about, though, and attack the duck who caused the Raven's defeat. Although Fakir fights to help her, he is too late to save her, and Ahiru dies in his hands. Fakir feels responsible, but with Ahiru in his mind, he continues to write endings that would please her: happy endings for everyone -- Autor and Pique, Rue and Mytho, Lysander and Hermia, Paulo and Paulamoni, and others. This does not please Drosselmeyer, of course, but it DEFINITELY doesn't please the Bookmen who don't like Fakir playing with peoples' stories and who decide to stop him once and for all. They corner Fakir and, after a "lifetime of holding on" and fighting, Fakir gives into death at his own hand. He surrenders himself to the Oak Tree and so dies to become one with everything. Finally he can be with Ahiru again, if only in his mind.

This AMV was sooo sad. ;n; Poor Fakir. I absolutely loved the part where he was remembering things that Ahiru said to him; it fit really well~ *w* The one thing that kinda stood out the most were the parts with the rose; the pixels kinda threw off the professional feel that the rest of the AMV had. You should keep working on things like that so that the next time you use something like that in another AMV, it'll look better~

@AmayaAwakaru Yeah, I wasn't entirely pleased with those two shots because of those dang pixels...it's really rather tricky to do right, I have new respect for those Disney crossover people who are so amazing at it!! But oh well...the more I practice, the better I'll get, I guess. XD;

Orlando was a lot of fun, for sure...but there is truly no place like home! (And like Youtube, haha.)

On another note, you have not lost your touch! That was freaking amazing! I actually got teary eyed at the end of the video. Awesome job. Takes a lot to make a video to make me cry. ^^
