That engine has a beautiful voice.

Several whistles are sometimes better than one, almost like Ivor the Engine. More steam engines should be like that.

The single chine whistle is called the woods whistle that is original equipment, the other five chime whistle is the one that was added as part of the rebuild. Rarely is the woods whistle ever used except to get the attention of people who don't pay attention to there surroundings, I have used the woods whistle just because it is different, that and you have to pull harder on the cord. But to answer your question why does it have two whistles? I don't know the reason why. But everyone likes.

@Trainlover12345 I am a member of the Midwest Central railroad and student engineer. I played nothing but tourist this year (2010). Next year I will be back to full work and minimal tourist.
