While mobile money services (financial services through mobile phone technology) is growing quickly on a global scale, there is very little research studies on the social impacts of this innovation on rural residents using mobile money services.

Therefore this PhD research aims to evaluate the social impact of mobile money services in rural Cambodia by analyzing customer perceptions and experiences on payment delivery, ease of use and socio-cultural changes moving from physical to electronic money.

This PhD research hopes to bring industry practitioners one step closer to lay the foundation to effectively identify a global response for societal transformation to improve the livelihoods of the unbanked and poor.
