http://pc-addicts.com - (Part 1)(For Part 2, http://pcatr.im/DG ) How I setup my Linux distro and what applications I install to be productive. I have been a very strong Windows user since Windows 3.1, so if I could make the switch, you can too!

Below is a rough copy (ever changing) of my TO-DO list after Ubuntu 10.04 (LTS) is installed:

change repos and update system
hardware drivers
backup xorg.conf
nvidia x server settings
backup xorg.conf
Appearance - set Visual Effects to Extra
CCSM
docky
gnome-do
quicksynergy
virtualbox-ose

x11vnc
xchat
irssi
gtk-recordmydesktop

tomboy (setup ubuntu one for notes sync)
homeshare setup - Network Share
flashplayer - sudo apt-get install flashplugin-nonfree
ssh server
mangler
k3b
keepassx
chromium

ccsm:
- workspaces - 1 row, 4 columns
- win+w change to all workspaces
- bottom left corner = scale (Super+W)
- bottom right corner = Expo (Super+E)

firefox:
- speed dial
- tiny menu
- tab mix plus
- xmarks

ubuntu:
- HQ dual screen wallpaper
- delete bottom panel

Evolution:
Test imap functionality before setting up thunderbird

Dang, I keep forgetting to use ZOOM! lol, sorry. Part 2 will have some ZOOM goin' on!

  • I am new at the ubuntu stuff and sure found your video a good source of information but I wasn't able to follow you.....#1 move your camera to record what's on the screen not the side of your head. it would be even greater enjoyment if you slowed down and actually expailned HOW to install the NVIDIA software and use it. Thanks.
