Into The Light | ORIGINAL POEM

Poems come to me in all sorts of places and at all sorts of times...This one was drafted on the back of a Pick and Mix bag and my entry ticket at the movie theatre (I had no paper on me - unusually!!), while the trailers were playing. I still have the bag and ticket...:) For some reason, I started to see a rainbow twirling and whirling in my tummy and out the poem came....magical....Enjoy!!

INTO THE LIGHT

I stumble forward into the light
The sun bears down upon my skin
Grown pale through that time
I was lost in the darkness within

I find myself near the top of a mountain
Emerging from a hidden cave, blinking in the sunlight

Inside me, a new feeling is breaking through
A twirling, whirling rainbow fills me up
Warm, hazy, colourful - my heart is thawing at last

My face to the sun, I stand at the edge
Surveying the beauty of this view
Finally, my soul has returned and I can say
'Thank you'

Without your cruelty, I would not have known the joy of this release
Without your lies, I would not have treasured so much those who uphold the truth
Without your ruthlessness, I may never have seen the kindness of certain souls
Without your taking me into the shadows, I would not have arrived at the light of this new day

And without the path you led me down, I would not have reached this place
This place where he stood waiting for me all along
He takes my hand. Warm and strong
No fear. No more. His heart is just like mine.
Clear and pure.
Honest and giving.
A blend like this I never knew.
Without the death you took me to, I would not have experienced this living.

I came this way because of you
And only because of you.
I found this place of heaven, because it was on the other side of the hell you pushed me through.
And for that, I truly thank you.
