To My Sacred One

In a valley of darkness
Broken by false promises
I lay upon the dirt and bones
To rot to death

And beside me lay an angel
With broken wings
Songs about loss
Spilling from her true heart

A dream, I thought
Another illusion for torment
I did not want to gaze
Into a siren's eyes

But she took my hand
And in her I saw a world
Of vast love and dreams;
The mind of a goddess

Where we met and ended
Was lost to me
Without smoke and mirrors
The light revealed us

Two hearts forsaken
Were now shaken
By a storm of passion
That awoke the spirit

Long had I travelled
Through the dark wood
Losing myself while finding others
Reduced to begging for hope

Irony had only stung before
Yet then it made me shine:
In my darkest hour I found
The sweetest soul alive

A once dark wood now lit
And the stones fell
The dirt washed off
And we ran like a dance

I mended your wings
And you mended mine
I helped you to stand
You taught me to fly

Ties often forged
Are knotted with want
They are papered with lies:
A tightrope tango

The greedy have their pawning eyes
The hunters their spiels
The fearful their waives
The playful their intrigue

But nothing compares
To what we share:
The storm and the wonder
Still breaks me to tears

I was captured alive
By graceful ardour
Awoken inside
By the touch of an angel.

  • that made me cry :)

  • @visionz0 Wow, thanks for saying. :)

  • Nice one. : ) Thank you.

  • Glad you like it. :)

  • Really good writing, but there isn't much emotion in your voice. As a once artist, you need to project your voice more. I honestly from this would get just as much from it being written from this as being read. If you want a good example, take a look at Christopher Walken reading The Raven. He has the perfect tone for the right parts. It may take training, but it'd really make these videos powerful. Keep writing thee\se though man, they're powerful.

  • Thanks. Actually I had to hold back to get through it. I kept breaking into tears and had to do it again. The only way to get through it was to keep a self-discipline. Even in this take, I barely made it to where it cuts off..there's more behind this than there may appear.

  • In a good way tho :)

  • @Neurolanis The funniest part is after reading this I noticed you have a death metal song in the "elated videos" section. Upon reading it again I see the deeper meaning in this; very nicely written.

  • Glad you like it, Ty!

  • The most beautiful poem I have ever heard. :)
