"At the core of shifting ourselves back into the land, honoring our rural habitat, keepin' our local youth here, we have to find a way for high school graduates to move on a piece of land, be able to buy the land and be able to actually build on it, with a reasonable set of materials, and $300,000.00 a house is not an option." -partial narrative by retired Lt. Colonel Jim Channon, founder and Commander of First Earth Battallion providing a simple, to the point narrative about sustainable living methods that work. This includes 21st century shelter and community living design that is affordable, practical and functional. These six templates are paradoxically part of disaster preparedness training and also a way for the average person to be able to afford, build and live a paradise lifestyle. 2012 Ready is a call to action for individuals, organizations, communities and governments to mobilize and prepare for the inevitability of human and natural disasters while also engaging the dream and reality of a more self-sufficient and sustainable lifestyle both in urban and remote areas.

This is a great initiative. You would probably appreciate what Village Habitat Design does, too. They take these ideas and make functioning communities.
