Airbase 1 - Berlin, 10-23-2008
Without a doubt, singer Kele Okereke and his three fellow band members are an anomaly in the music business. Now, three years after the release of their acclaimed and universally praised debut "Silent Alarm," they are releasing their third album. Bloc Party's effort this time around is even more experimental than on the previous album "Weekend in the City."
The band even tried a fresh approach in releasing their new material. Just like Radiohead with "In Rainbows," Bloc Party chose to pre-release a downloadable version of their songs. The first single "Mercury" came out on August 11 and "Intimacy" was available in digital form on the band's Web site starting August 21. The hard copy version of the album with additional tracks was released on October 24.
One day earlier, on October 23, Bloc Party performed their new material at Airbase 1 (Berlin Tempelhof Airport), but only 300 lucky fans were able to attend this concert live.
