In his book "Capitalism and Freedom" (1962) Milton Friedman (1912-2006) advocated minimizing the role of government in a free market as a means of creating political and social freedom.

There is no true free market. But as evidenced throughout the world, the closer you are to having a free market, the more prosperous you are. And as evidenced throughout history, the one system that has shown it can greatly improve the general welfare of the people is capitalism. The fact that not everyone can be a multi billionaire and rich people have a lot of capital is inconsequential, as even you under this system is better off than anyone has been throughout history.
