From Dark Thrones And Black Flags.

Sound of iron, hard at work
Flames of triumph, we'll get
Keep that hammer pounding
The autumn of no regret

Keep our mountains free
Our shores clean of thee
Blacksmith of the north
Ancient fire is burning in me

The black rain is harsh
But they will learn
Our fathers of old
Not hearing the yearns

  • The only people that care about genres and trying to put things into neat little categories are those 'authorities' that want to try to control everything they ultimately can't, wanna-be rock stars who can only play 'technical' and by the 'book' - creating nothing, and weak-willed 'fans' who just want to fit in somewhere. Darkthrone is a pioneer in creating art that is beyond categories...destroying the walls that all of the above hide behind.

  • I think of Amebix, Axgrinder, Motorhead, Discharge etc. Hell, his vocals on this album sound just like Animal from Anti-Nowhere League.

  • @rkoslov u just couldn't say it better in any other way. perfect.

  • I like the music and lyrics, i just wish they kept the old vocals

  • @rkoslov Search for Sigh. That band's one of the greatest genre trancenders of our age.

  • black metal punx! superb, kudos to darkthrone, most acknowledge and celebrate the similarities and struggle of all exteme music past and present, dumb idiots just don't get it.

  • killer man fuckin killer

  • @rkoslov Anyway they have labeled themselves as Metal Punk... Fenriz says that the whole time...

  • @PrplStckyPnch008

I agree with you. They can mimick the old sound well, like they did on Panzerfaust with Celtic Frost. If you think about it, Darkthrone has been mimicking other bands for at least 2/3 of their existence. "Transilvanian Hunger" remains my favorite from them because it was new, dirty and atmospheric. This is the real contribution to the genre I'd say. The rest is well-done mimickery.

  • Get to it then. I got all early Darkthrone on Vinyl up to, and including Panzerfaust. This kind of music was made for vinyl. I'm not even trying to sound retro-elitist. but this kind of raw music just sounds better on vinyl and tape, than it does digitalised.

  • yeah, fuck off all the posers, if you dont like this music go to listen that commercial black metal shit...

  • 3 chord music is way fuckin better its raw and immedite that vituso shit has no oompf its a buncha masturbatery bullshit thats dosnt go anywhere
