The industry is constantly expanding. Piracy isn't hurting it in the slightest. If people are suffering, it is because the corporations are squeezing to optimize profit by screwing the people they are supported by. This is nothing new.
Technology is advancing and people are appealing to the industry less and less. As opposed to adapting, they're trying to censor and stem advancement in order to force their own prosperity.
The middlemen are getting cut out everywhere in the entertainment industry: distributers, retailers, publishers, record companies... closing the gap between artist and consumer.
It's an unstoppable movement that people will just have to adapt to.
Whether the consumer pays or not, digital distribution will become the standard eventually, and many people will inevitably lose their jobs.
95% of the peopel involved in getting music to you barely make enough money to pay their bills. And these are the people who are being put our of work from piracy. Not only does an artist have to put forth far more work to put a CD out than the people stealing music, but it involves hundreds of people just trying to survive. On top of that it;s helping destroy the economy.
at the end of the day look how much a singer gets and look how much a average person gets its bullshit tbh they dont work hard at all and there tryna crack down and charge/fine/jail on ppl who dont earn the same as the artist !!
@Mathenaut i agree with you that's very true!!
