Convert iTunes music to MP3 format

How to convert any music you have in iTunes into MP3 format, on either Windows or the Mac.

Note: this works with all iTunes songs except for songs purchased from the iTunes Store that are *not* iTunes Plus. Songs purchases in the last couple of years are likely to be iTunes Plus, but songs purchased before then have to be 'upgraded' to iTunes Plus format first.

@alphafrogcjp Check your Import Settings are still set to 'MP3 Encoder' as shown in the video. If they are, it might be that you are trying to convert a 'protected' track purchased from the iTunes Store. These tracks have restrictions placed on them that prevent you from going through this process. :(

New tracks aren't sold with these restrictions, but you might have some old ones with these restrictions.

worked great! Thank you, very much! Easy, too. 1 Question; if and when I purchase an IPod, will it play MP3 or do I have to change things back? In other words: perhaps I should change all my recordings in ITunes to MP3 format? Thanks, again.

I am trying to upload my itunes library to Google music, but it doesn't support the apple format. I have tried this method, however, itunes isn't allowing me to convert them to mp3. Help?
